Pupusas
Ingredients
- 3 Cups Masa Harina
- 1 1/2 tsp. salt
- 2 3/4 Cups warm Water
- 1 Cup shredded Mozzarella
- 1 Cup refried beans
- 2 tsp. vegetable oil
Directions
- Combine masa harina, salt and warm water in a bowl
- Knead until smooth dough forms.
- Let rest for 10 minutes
- Divide dough into 12 balls
- Use thumb to make an indentation and fill with tablespoon of beans, cheese or mixture
- Pinch dough together to cover filling
- Flatten by hand into 4 inch disk about 1/4th inch tick
- Heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat
- Fry pupusas for 3 minutes per side, until golden brown
- Serve with cortida (Salvadoran slaw)
